The second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road (south) will open today, June 10, 2024, for inspection by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath ji Shinde, according to a statement released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday.

The BMC unveiled a panoramic view of the second underground tunnel of the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South). The tunnel going north will be closed on weekends due to ongoing project work and open to the public five days a week starting on June 11.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister declared, "Today, the second phase of Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road has been opened," following a tunnel inspection. The distance of this tunnel from Haji Ali and Amarsons is 6.25 km. This will open in July and remain open till Worli. This tunnel was built with the aid of cutting-edge technologies. From 40 to 50 minutes, the trip duration will now just take 8 minutes."
