China and Japan raise concerns at the WTO on India's laptop import monitoring mechanism.

Prior to this, the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Katherine Tai, brought up the matter during the G20 meeting in India, which is how India came to prohibit laptop imports. In a statement issued by the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Committee on Import Licensing (CIL) following its meeting on May 21, it was revealed that China and Japan had officially expressed worry over India's laptop import licensing measure, which had been introduced in August of last year but quickly reversed. Prior to this, the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Katherine Tai, brought up the matter during the G20 meeting in India, which is how India came to prohibit laptop imports. Tai had asked India to make sure that the current end-to-end online system in use and associated  policies do not restrict trade going forward.
