Indian cuisine is incredibly diverse, which sets it apart from other cuisines. Indians enjoy their food. A recent controversy was caused by the interactive online guide Taste Atlas, which ranked ten popular Indian dishes and beverages—gajak, jaljeera, coconut rice, panta bhat, thandai, achappam, mirchi ka salan, malpua, upma, and aloo baingan—as "worst-rated." The stars are distributed between 2.7 and 3.2. This is the second time in a row that the worst dish is aloo baingan. The brinjal-potato combo, or aloo baingan, was listed as one of the top 100 worst-rated dishes in the world in January 2024.
