JD(U) names Sanjay Jha, seeks special status for Bihar.

New Delhi: On Saturday, Sanjay Jha, a member of the Rajya Sabha, was named functioning president by the JD(U).

The party's senior leader Neeraj Kumar announced the decision during a meeting of its national executive, during which the party restated its desire for Bihar to be granted special category status while also mentioning that the Center might take an alternative into consideration in a special package.

The BJP ally also asked for a tough law to prevent future occurrences of this kind of disaster and sought harsh punishment for those responsible for test paper leak instances.

Given that Jha is well-liked by the BJP leadership, the choice to name him working president is noteworthy. In the Rajya Sabha, he leads the party as well.

Jha was well-suited, according to party sources, to extract a decent deal from the BJP and preserve the cordial but tumultuous relationship between the two parties.

Jha stated after his appointment that Bihar was always on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's radar and that he hoped the party's demands for special category status or a package for the State would be fulfilled.
