Tribunal decides that a $17 billion UK adtech lawsuit against Google can proceed.

The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) in London decided on Wednesday that Alphabet, the parent company of Google, must respond to a class action complaint accusing it of abusing its dominance in the internet advertising industry.

The lawsuit is the most recent to center on the business practices of the search engine. It is aimed at publishers of websites and apps situated in the United Kingdom and wants damages of up to 13.6 billion pounds ($17.4 billion).

Ad Tech Collective Action is pursuing the lawsuit on behalf of publishers who allege that Google's purportedly anticompetitive actions have caused them to lose money.
