West Bengal's Cyclone Remal Kills Six People
Kolkata: Cyclone Remal made landfall in the Sundarbans delta on Sunday night between Sagar Island of South 24 Parganas and Khepupara in Bangladesh. It brought with it severe rains that devastated homes and crops in the eastern state's plains, resulting in at least six deaths in West Bengal. Electrocution was the cause of most of the fatalities. Among them were two residents of Memari in Burdwan East: Phorey Singh and his little son Tarun. While removing an uprooted banana tree following the cyclone, they came into contact with a live wire and perished.
