Delhi, New: With 64.2 crore voters—including 31.2 crore women—participating in the Lok Sabha elections this year, India set a new global record, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Monday. Speaking at a news conference, he stated that the largest election exercise in history encompassed over 68,000 monitoring teams, 1.5 crore poll workers, and security officers. In response to memes on social media referring to the election commissioners as "Laapataa Gentlemen," Kumar stated, "We never vanished; we were always here. "The 'Laapataa Gentlemen' are back, according to memes now," he remarked. The world's largest election activity featured around 68,000 monitoring teams, 1.5 crore poll workers, and security officials and staff. Jammu & Kashmir saw the greatest voter participation in forty years, with 51.05 percent in the valley and 58.58 percent overall. It required just 39 repolls.
