CPI(M) acknowledges errors in its Kerala campaign, saying the party thought it slipped

Following four days of analysis of the Left Democratic Front's (LDF) disastrous performance in the Kerala Lok Sabha elections, the CPI(M) said on Thursday that the party had not succeeded in "grasping the attitude of people." The party discovered that its chances were harmed when Muslims sided with the United Democratic Front (UDF), which is run by Congress, and the BJP gained traction among the traditional Hindu support base of the Left, which is comprised of backward people.

Similar to what happened five years prior, the LDF only managed to win one of the 20 Lok Sabha seats, recording one of its worst results ever in Kerala's legislative elections as its vote share fell from 36.29 to 33.34 percent.
