Dixon Technologies and VVDN are in discussions with HP India for laptop assembly.

According to persons with knowledge, HP India is now in discussions with Dixon Technologies and VVDN Technologies to construct its laptops domestically. One of the 27 businesses that qualify for the PLI plan 2.0 for IT hardware, for which Rs 17,000 crore has been set aside as incentives, is the Indian branch of the American laptop manufacturer. Although HP India already has a laptop assembly plant of its own and a cooperation with Flex, based in the US, the sources claimed that HP India is looking to enter into assembly-only agreements with Dixon, managed by Sunil Vachani, and VVDN, both of which qualify for production-linked incentives. As part of this agreement, HP India would supply all the parts needed for production, also referred to as jobwork. When reached, representatives of VVDN Technologies, HP India, and Dixon did not respond to queries regarding these negotiations.
