Final Opportunity for Foreign Medical Graduates to Collect Their Pass Certificates

Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a notification urging Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) to collect their Pass Certificates by August 30, 2024. Candidates who have been declared qualified in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by NBEMS receive their FMGE pass certificates following in-person verification of identity and eligibility documents required for the examination.

Due to numerous candidates failing to collect their certificates by the initial deadline, the board extended the collection period for pass certificates from August 6 to August 30. Qualified candidates must now schedule an appointment with NBEMS through the Communication Web Portal (CWP) to collect their FMGE pass certificates.

According to an official notification from NBEMS, candidates who qualified in FMGE up to the June 2023 session but did not collect their FMGE pass certificates by the extended deadline of February 28, 2024, had their candidature cancelled. Despite this, some candidates subsequently appealed to NBEMS for another opportunity to collect their certificates.

In response, NBEMS has granted these candidates another chance to collect their FMGE pass certificates by August 30, 2024, as stated in the notice dated October 17, 2023. Additionally, the deadline for collecting FMGE pass certificates for the December 2023 session has been extended from August 6, 2024, to August 30, 2024.

The latest Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) for 2023 saw a qualification rate of approximately 22%, with nearly 78% of students who pursued medical education abroad failing the exam. Historically, the pass percentage for FMGE has been relatively low.

It is emphasized that if an FMGE-qualified candidate does not collect their FMGE pass certificate by August 30, 2024, it will be assumed that they lack the necessary documentation to meet eligibility requirements, and their FMGE qualification will remain cancelled.
