Police in Tirupati and Nellore tighten down on moving infractions

Campaigns against traffic rule violators have been begun by the police in the Tirupati and Nellore districts, with a particular emphasis on drunk driving. Fifteen people in Tirupati who were found to have driven under the influence of alcohol were fined a whopping <1,50,000. Up to 23 people were arrested for conducting business on the sides of the road in violation of Section 283 of the IPC. A fine of about $200 was imposed on everyone. In the meantime, SP Arif Hafeez-led Nellore district police initiated an anti-drunk driving campaign. at total, 36 cases against intoxicated drivers were filed at several police station jurisdictions.
