Shabana Azmi to SS Rajamouli: A new roster of Indian celebrities invited to The Academy
A number of Indian celebrities, including Ritesh Sidhwani, Rama Rajamouli, Shabana Azmi, and SS Rajamouli, have received invitations to this year's Academy Awards.
The new round of invites for the Class of 2024 has been released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A number of Indian names were among the 487 new members, including veteran actor Shabana Azmi, director of Village Rockstars Rima Das, and director of RRR SS Rajamouli. It included 71 Oscar nominees, including 19 winners. Actor Shabana Azmi, directors Rima Das and SS Rajamouli, cinematographer Ravi Varman, costume designers Rama Rajamouli and Sheetal Sharma, and Anand Kumar Tucker, documentary filmmakers Nisha Pahuja and Hemal Trivedi, producer Ritesh Sidhwani, and other notable Indians were among those invited to join The Academy.
