Noor Malabika Das, Kajol's co-star in The Trial, was discovered dead in her Mumbai residence a few days before. Her family has since disclosed that Noor had been depressed and unhappy with her work in the film industry. The actor's paternal aunt Arati Das told The Times of India while she was in Karimganj that Noor had "big hopes" for her acting career when she moved to Mumbai and was working very hard to realize it.
