On May 19th in Pune's Kalyani Nagar, a tragic collision occurred when a Porsche, reportedly driven by a 17-year-old boy under the influence of alcohol, struck two software engineers riding a motorcycle.

Police retrieved CCTV footage that captured the teenager drinking at a pub before the accident. Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar verified the footage, suggesting the boy was fully conscious of his actions. Additionally, the police detained his father, Vishal Agarwal, on charges of “exposing a child to danger,” along with the owners and staff of two bars for serving alcohol to a minor.

In the midst of the immediate response to the accident and the public outcry, the court emphasized, "The age of the accused was not factored in. The accused is under 18 years old, and his age must be given due consideration," the bench underscored.

"The Bombay High Court stressed the importance of providing specialized treatment for CCLs (Children in Conflict with Law)," the court stated.

It further emphasized that the accused is currently undergoing rehabilitation, which remains the primary focus, and continues to receive care from a psychologist, with arrangements in place for ongoing support.
