Predictably, the Group of Seven countries (G7) convened for their summit conference at Puglia, on the southern Italian coast of the Mediterranean. The seven leaders in attendance, including the host, Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Joe Biden of the United States, Olaf Scholz of Germany, Justin Trudeau of Canada, Emmanuel Macron of France, Fumio Kishida of Japan, and Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom, announced on the first day of the summit that they had made a "deal" to "use profits from frozen Russian Central Bank assets" to support Ukraine to the tune of $46 billion.
