In his next movie Sarfira, Akshay Kumar, who played a soldier in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, returns with a purpose to shatter barriers of class and caste by founding the nation's least expensive airline. Tuesday saw the release of the movie's trailer, which was directed by Sudha Kongara. It is a remake of Soorarai Pottru (2020), a Tamil film directed by Sudha in which Suriya played the protagonist.

Sarfira, a film based on a true story, stars Akshay Kumar as Vir Mhatre, who promises to establish India's first low-cost airline, offering tickets for just ₹1 for the average person. At the start of the trailer, Vir says he's broke and in debt, but he has an idea that would not only change his future but also the lives of countless common people. In this vision, he moves toward Paresh.

"I am the aam aadmi who is dreaming of flying with Rs 1 in his pocket," declares Vir, unfazed. He pursues his ambition in spite of opposition from politicians and government officials who reject and criticize it. Actor Suriya from Tamil makes a brief surprise appearance in the trailer, grinning and waving at Vir.

Akshay Kumar's career has witnessed a number of failures in recent years, including the huge box office disaster of his last movie, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The actor does, however, pledge to make a return with Sarfira. "Sapne woh nahi jo aap sote huye dekhte hain, sapne woh hote hain jo aapko sone hi nahi dete," Akshay posted on Instagram while sharing the trailer. Dreams are the reason you cannot sleep, not what comes to you while you are asleep, as Sarfira once said.

Radhikka Madan stars in the movie alongside Paresh Rawal and Akshay. Producers of Sarfira include Vikram Malhotra (Abundantia Entertainment), South celebrities Suriya and Jyotika (2D Entertainment), and Aruna Bhatia (Cape of Good Films).

Is Sarfira a true narrative?
The life of Captain GR Gopinath, a retired Army commander and the creator of Air Deccan, is dramatized in Soorarai Pottru. His 2011 autobiography, Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, which tells his story from operating India's first low-cost airline to riding a bullock cart, served as the basis for the movie.

On July 12, the movie opens in theaters.
