After gap-down opening, Sensex inches 220 pts up, Nifty above 22,600 mark

Indian equity benchmark BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened with minor cuts on Thursday (May 2). BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened flat on Thursday. Sensex opened 91.05 points, or 0.12 per cent lower at 74,391.70 while Nifty opened 37.00 points, or 0.16 per cent lower at 22,567.80. Later during the trading session, Sensex climbed 204.88 points to 74,687.66 in early trade while Nifty50 up 57.35 points to 22,662.20. Power Grid, M&M, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma and HDFC Bank were among the major gainers in today’s session from Sensex basket while Maruti, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Wipro and Titan were among the laggards.
