Chandrababu Naidu-Purandeswari connections show indications of thawing amid the reconfiguration of Andhra politics

There are signs of a change in the two's relationship, despite the fact that they have kept their distance since Naidu's 1995 coup to seize the TDP. This is especially evident in the wake of the NDA's victory in Andhra.

Chandrababu Naidu-Purandeswari connections show indications of thawing amid the reconfiguration of Andhra politics

There are indications that the relationship between Andhra Pradesh BJP president Dr. Daggubati Purandeswari, who is also TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu's sister-in-law, and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is poised to win a third term in office, is beginning to soften.

Purandeswari, 65, has long avoided Naidu, believing that his coup in 1995 brought her father, TDP founder N T Rama Rao, to his knees. But on June 5, a day following the NDA's decisive victory in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu expressed her gratitude to Purandeswari for her backing. Purandeswari's contribution to the state elections was also acknowledged and commended by Naidu at the NDA meeting in New Delhi.
