Chhattisgarh: An encounter in Abujhmarh claimed the lives of eight Maoists and one security guard.

Abujhmarh is a forested hilly region that is located in the districts of Dantewada, Bijapur, and Narayanpur. Entire 4000 square kilometers are covered by it.

The region, which is remote and mainly unreachable, is thought to be a center of Maoist activity.

A combined team of security officers from four districts—Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada, and Kondagaon—was conducting an anti-Naxal operation this morning when a shootout broke out in the Abhujmad jungle, according to PTI. There is still fire being exchanged.

On June 12, the operation was initiated by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) men from four districts, the Special Task Force (STF), and the 53rd battalion of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
