Malayalam film industry zooms past Rs 1,000 crore global gross mark while Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil films continue to bleed

The Malayalam film business is booming, bringing in hundreds of crores from a string of hits, whereas other Indian film industries like Bollywood, Telugu, and Tamil are grappling with a worrying trend of their films bombing at the box office despite having big stars and big budgets. The Malayalam cinema industry has already seen a number of blockbusters and just as many superhits, apparently blasting past the Rs 1,000 crore mark at the global box office, while other sectors are floundering and struggling to rise again. It's interesting to note that according to industry tracker Sacnilk, three movies—Manjummel Boys, Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), and Aavesham—collected a combined total of Rs 240.94 crore, Rs 157.44 crore, and Rs 153.52 crore, or roughly 55% of the overall income.
