A day after Kulwinder Kaur, a suspended CISF constable, was accused of assaulting actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut at the Chandigarh airport, the Punjab Police on Friday made an arrest of her. While other farmer outfits expressed their support behind her, the police action comes as they noted that a thorough investigation into the complete sequence leading up to the occurrence is necessary.

The Mohali police filed a formal report (FIR) against Kulwinder Kaur under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing pain) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code in response to a complaint made by the CISF. An officer stated that both offenses are subject to bail, noting that no arrests had been made as of yet.
