Doctor Who Ran 'Blood Cleaning' Racket After Switching Pune Porsche Teen Samples:

Pune: A further layer of ambiguity has been added to the Porsche accident case in Pune, where a 17-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crashed into and killed two techies on a bike. According to police sources, the doctor who assisted in the exchange of the accused's blood samples had given the same'service' to multiple other individuals via a network of brokers.
One of the doctors who allegedly replaced the minor's blood samples with his mother's to make sure that alcohol was not identified in the final report is Dr. Ajay Tawade, the chief of Sassoon Hospital's Forensic Medical Department. Dr. Tawade was arrested in connection with the case and is currently being held in judicial custody.

According to NDTV, sources in the Pune Crime Branch have confirmed that Dr. Tawade had previously committed similar crimes. The doctor's brokers, dispersed throughout Pune and four other districts in Western Maharashtra, would get in contact with the families in high-profile cases of drunk drivers running over and killing people. They would offer to replace the blood samples with clean ones, thereby reducing the severity of the charges against the accused.

A source claimed that this had been happening ever since the doctor took over the forensic department. "The brokers would demand lakhs for the service, usually above ₹ 5 lakh, and the money would be funnelled to Dr Tawade, with them keeping a cut," the source added nearly two years ago.

Serious accusations have been made against Mr. Tawade in the past. On the advice of an MLA and a minister, he was purportedly promoted to the position of head of the forensic department despite being implicated in drug cases and a kidney transplant scam.

The dean of Sassoon Hospital, Vinayak Kale, stated last month that MLA Sunil Tingre, who is from the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP, and Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif had written a letter requesting that Dr. Tawade be appointed as the department's head. Mr. Kale was placed on involuntary leave shortly after he made the declaration.

In addition, MLA Tingre was charged with going to the Yerwada police station following the Porsche accident and exerting pressure on the authorities to ease up on the case.
